  • 2642: Family: The Most Important Thing You'll Ever Build
    2026/09/28

LifeBlood: We spend enormous amounts of time building careers, businesses, résumés, investment portfolios, and net worth. But what are all those things supposed to be for?

G.K. Chesterton called family a “fairy-tale”- an unpredictable world filled with people we didn't choose, rules we didn't write, and adventures we couldn't anticipate. C.S. Lewis argued that our enormous economic and social machinery ultimately exists so people can live safely and meaningfully in their homes.

In this episode, we explore what happens when we get that relationship backwards…and why building a strong family may be among the most important work any of us ever does.

  • 2643: The Work of Life is Inside: The Joy of Life is Outside
    2026/09/30

LifeBlood: The work of life is inside. The joy of life is outside.

We spend a lot of time searching outside ourselves for the missing piece—the relationship, money, success, recognition, accomplishment, or experience that will finally make us feel whole. But there’s no external solution to an internal problem.

The real work is inside: self-awareness, responsibility, forgiveness, discipline, humility, courage, and learning to understand ourselves. But we shouldn’t mistake the work for the life.

The purpose of becoming a healthier, stronger, more complete person isn’t endless introspection. It’s becoming more capable of loving, connecting, contributing, serving, creating, and being fully present with other people.

And since none of us gets to disappear into the woods until we’ve figured ourselves out, we have to learn to be doing while we’re becoming.

This episode explores what it means to live from the inside out, why everyone you meet is an unfinished human being, and how doing the inner work can help us more fully experience the joy waiting outside ourselves.

  • 2644: Better Tolerance: Not Everything is Life or Death
    2026/10/02

LifeBlood: We live in a world that increasingly pushes us toward black-and-white thinking: good or evil, right or wrong, friend or enemy, us or them.

But human beings aren't black and white.

This episode explores the difference between chiaroscuro- the artistic use of dramatic contrasts between light and darkness- and sfumato, where colors and tones softly blend together.

What if we're being encouraged to see a chiaroscuro world when reality is much more sfumato?

You'll learn why disagreement doesn't require disconnection, why tolerance needs boundaries, how polarization exploits our desire for simplicity, and why high-trust families, communities, and societies depend on our ability to disagree without becoming enemies.

  • 2645: Where the F Am I? What to Do When You're Feeling Lost
    2026/10/05

LifeBlood: Ever look around at your life and wonder, “Where the f#&k am I?”

    Not geographically. In your life.

Maybe your career isn't where you expected it to be. Your finances have drifted. Your health has slipped. Your relationships feel different. Or maybe everything looks fine from the outside, but something inside you knows you're off course.

This episode explores dead reckoning, the centuries-old navigation technique sailors used to estimate their position using a known starting point, direction, speed, and time, and how it can help us find our bearings when life feels directionless.

You'll learn why your values must become your fixed points, how your habits reveal your actual heading, why movement creates clarity, how to account for life's inevitable wind and current, and why regularly taking a new reading is essential.

You don't need perfect clarity to move forward.

    You need orientation.

Find a fixed point. Pick a heading. Start moving.

  • 2647: Are You a Terrible Person? Do Your Part
    2026/10/09

LifeBlood: Are you a terrible person?

Probably not. But how would you know?

Character isn't only revealed by the enormous decisions we make. It's revealed by the tiny things we do when there's no reward for behaving well and almost no consequence for behaving badly.

Do you return the shopping cart? Pick up garbage you didn't drop? Let someone merge? Say thank you? Treat service workers with respect? Keep your word?

Or do you constantly look for tiny advantages while making somebody else absorb the cost?

This episode explores the small behaviors that create, or destroy, high-trust societies, why the shopping cart is such an interesting test of character, and the difference between people who build bridges, plant seeds, and simply leave garbage behind.

The question isn't whether you're perfect.

It's whether the world is slightly better because you're in it.

  • 2648: Start Walking Away: Some Things Can't Come with You
    2026/10/12

Maybe freedom isn't being able to do whatever you want.

Maybe freedom is being able to NOT do what you want.

    To put the phone down.

    To not buy the thing.

    To skip the drink.

To walk away from the approval.

    To leave the opportunity alone.

To say no to something pleasurable because there's something meaningful you're trying to build.

You cannot get somewhere while constantly walking toward everything.

Eventually, you have to choose a direction.

And then you have to start walking away from the things pulling you somewhere else.

In this episode of LifeBlood, we're exploring what it means to walk away—not as deprivation, but as freedom. Why pleasure is wonderful as a visitor and a terrible compass. Why saying no is how you protect the life you're building. And why direction without subtraction is just motion.

You'll learn: • Why "doing whatever you want" isn't the same as being free • How the things you can't walk away from end up owning you • Why pleasure makes a great visitor and a terrible compass • How choosing a direction requires walking away from the rest • What it looks like to say no in service of something meaningful

    Choose a direction.

    Then start walking away.

  • 2649: Escaping Modern Slavery: Opt Out of Dependency
    2026/10/14

    Are you actually free?

You can have a good salary, a nice house, two cars, every convenience imaginable—and still be completely dependent on your next paycheck.

And money isn't the only thing being extracted from you. Your attention, energy, appetites, and time are constantly being competed for by media, outrage, gambling, pornography, chemicals, entertainment, shopping, and endless convenience.

The answer isn't to complain about the system.

It's to become less dependent on it.

In this episode of LifeBlood, George Grombacher talks about the difference between consumption and creation, why comfort isn't the same thing as flourishing, how modern dependency keeps us stuck, and why freedom must be built one decision at a time.

    Stop consuming.

    Start producing.

Own more. Owe less. Get stronger. Become more useful. Reclaim your attention. Build something.

    Stop being a swamp.

    Become a river.

    And execute.

  • 2647: Finding Your Own Good, Your Own Way
    2026/10/16

Finding Your Own Good, Your Own Way

We've gotten extraordinarily good at manufacturing pleasure — food engineered for the next bite, apps engineered for the next scroll, infinite entertainment on tap. Stimulation is easy. Fulfillment is not.

Comfort isn't meaning. Pleasure isn't purpose. Feeling good isn't necessarily living well. John Stuart Mill put it plainly: better to be Socrates dissatisfied than a fool who is satisfied.

Your good is yours to define. Not the feed's version. Not someone else's satiated life. Find what makes you better — then build your own way toward it.

    What you'll walk away with:
    • Why engineered pleasure keeps you scrolling
    • The difference between feeling good and living well
    • Why a dissatisfied Socrates beats a satisfied fool
    • A clearer path to your own good, on your own terms

Get Better. Live How You Want.
