A Life Interrupted — Michael Bokun

    This episode is personal.

Michael was a part of my life during some of my younger years, and even long after our relationship ended, his story remained a chapter of mine. We met in 2006, and what followed was young love in all its forms — complicated, imperfect, memorable, and real.

In this episode, I’m sharing the Michael I knew, pieces of our story, the memories that stayed with me, and what it feels like to look back on that time in my life now that I’m older.

In 2016, Michael’s life was tragically cut short at just 29 years old.

This episode isn’t just about how his life ended. It’s about who he was, young love, loss, growth, and the people who leave an imprint on our lives even after they’re gone.

This is Michael’s story through my eyes — A Life Interrupted.

Women wear so many hats—mom, wife, partner, friend, professional, caregiver, and somehow we’re still expected to find time to be ourselves in the middle of it all.

In this episode of Life Interrupted, I’m joined by my friend Vicki Ortiz as we talk about the many hats women wear and everything in between. Vicki shares what life looks like balancing marriage, motherhood, her career, and serving in the National Guard Reserves, while we both get into the reality of trying to show up for everyone without completely losing yourself along the way.

We talk about the mental load, relationships, motherhood, careers, guilt, self-care, identity, and those moments when you realize you’re doing a million things at once and just trying your best.

It’s an honest, funny, real conversation between two women talking about the beautiful, exhausting, chaotic reality of being a woman and wearing all the hats.

Because sometimes we’re holding everything together…and sometimes we’re just trying to remember where we put our coffee.

Episode 5: Take Care of You

When was the last time you truly took care of you?

In this episode of Life Interrupted, I’m talking about self-care in all its forms—not just hair, nails, skincare, waxing, or buying something new, but the deeper kind of care that comes from investing in your health, your goals, your education, your confidence, and your peace.

I share what taking care of myself looks like in this season of my life, from wellness routines and solo dates to continuing my education, getting my spark back, learning to accept compliments, and becoming more comfortable in my own skin.

Sometimes we spend so much time taking care of everyone else that we forget we deserve that same attention too. This episode is your reminder to pour some of that love back into yourself.

Because taking care of you isn’t selfish—it’s necessary.

In this episode of Life Interrupted, I sit down with my mom to talk about the woman she was before motherhood became part of her story.

She became a mother at just 20 years old while growing up in the Bronx, and we talk about her childhood, her family, her dreams, my father, her career, and what it was like learning how to become a mother while she was still becoming herself.

Now that I’m a mother, I see so much of her story differently. This conversation gave me a chance to ask questions I never thought to ask growing up and to look at motherhood, family, sacrifice, growth, and generational perspective through a completely different lens.

This episode is about more than our relationship. It’s about remembering that before our mothers were “Mom,” they were women with their own lives, hopes, mistakes, plans, and stories.

A personal conversation about motherhood, growing up, looking back, and understanding the women who came before us.

Some stories remind us that even in life's darkest moments, hope is still possible.

In this episode of Life Interrupted, I sit down with Chrissy a woman whose life has been shaped by resilience, faith, and the courage to keep moving forward. Born and raised in Hell's Kitchen, NYC, Chrissy has been sober for many years, a personal choice that became one of the greatest foundations of her strength.

After the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Ava, Chrissy faced a grief no parent should ever have to endure. Through that unimaginable pain, she has continued to show up for herself, her family, and her two children, choosing healing one day at a time.

Together, we have an honest conversation about sobriety, grief, motherhood, healing, and what it means to rebuild your life after loss. Chrissy's story is one of perseverance, hope, and the quiet strength it takes to keep going when life changes forever.

Whether you're navigating grief, recovery, or simply trying to find your way through life's hardest seasons, this conversation is a reminder that healing doesn't mean forgetting—it means learning to live, love, and carry on with courage.

  • Nobody Prepared Us for This

Nobody prepared us for this season of life.

Not for the way our bodies change. Not for the emotional shifts that come with perimenopause and menopause. Not for the friendships we outgrow, the identities we redefine, or the realization that life at 40 looks nothing like we imagined at 20.

In this first episode back, we're having an honest conversation about the chapters no one talks enough about. From motherhood and changing priorities to learning how to embrace growth instead of fearing it, this episode is a reminder that you're not alone in what you're feeling.

If you've ever looked around and wondered, "Is anyone else going through this?"—this conversation is for you.
