As we continue in the Gospel of Mark, his narrative proclaims that Jesus is the Messiah and Son of God, whose death and resurrection paid the penalty for our sins and achieved victory over Satan, sin, and death. With this joyful announcement comes the call to all believers for faith and cross-bearing discipleship. Let's dive in!

This week, we will specifically study the first verse in Mark. Mark 1:1 may not seem like a lot of words but it presents the Gospel. So, what is the Gospel exactly and why is it so important?

As we start the Gospel of Mark this week, we will start off with the question, "Who is Jesus to me?" Mark's main purpose was to set forth proof that Jesus was who he said he was. So, let's dive into the book of Mark and see who Jesus was and still is.

Continuing in our prayer study, this week we will practice praying and gain an understanding of its importance. Our students will be practicing the 5-finger prayer method by praying out loud with a partner. Some are even praying with kids in the Awanas class. We encourage you to help your kids build a strong prayer life by pushing them to pray out loud at dinner, at bedtime, or at any opportunity available.

What is prayer? Why should we pray? What is the benefit of prayer? Prayer is crucial to our relationship with God, so understanding its purpose and how the Bible directs us to pray is important. How often we pray and the heart behind our prayers are vital. For week 2 of this series we will focus on the 5-finger prayer method and how to pray based on Jesus' example of the Lord's Prayer.

Sanctification. As we continue in our Theology for Me study, this week we will focus on what sanctification is and how it shows us how much God truly loves us --- perfect timing for Valentine's Day. Don't forget to engage your kids this week. Some examples are; How is God using circumstances in your life to sanctify you? How does sanctification show God's love for us? And Does sanctification look the same for everyone?

Repentance. This week we discuss what it means to repent of sins as well as the different types of sins; commission and omissions. Some questions you can ask your teen this week are how it feels to be lost and what it could feel like to be lost from God forever, what it means to repent and what challenges we face with following God, and what are things we need to repent of currently?
