At the Levaya that took place in Bais Tefila of Inwood Wed Sep 2nd, Rebbe honors his mother the nifteres Perel bas Rav Yaakov Moshe a"h as one of the last precious lights of a generation that “walked through fire” and still chose life. Rebbe begins by thanking the “angels” who cared for his parents and especially his mother with deep love, dignity, and devotion until the end. He describes his mother as someone whose deepest memories were too painful to speak about, yet whose eyes, tefillos & simple conversations with the Ribbono Shel Olam revealed a profound closeness to Hashem. Through the story of Reb Zusha, where grass and flowers grew from ashes, the hesped frames her life as exactly that miracle: a beautiful family, generations, Torah, and emunah growing from the ashes of Auschwitz and the destruction of her childhood world. Her suffering did not have the final word - life did. Her flame continues in her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and all the souls awakened through the Torah that grew from her strength. The final nechamah is that the “door” she kept asking to open has now opened, returning her to the mother and family from whom she was torn so many years ago.
