  • God’s love is key (both in you and through you!)
    • John 3:16-17 NKJV For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
    • 1 John 4:9-10 NLT God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.
    • Make Jesus Lord–this isn’t just salvation, this is positioning.
      • John 14:15 If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands.
      • John 15:10 If you keep My commandments [if you continue to obey My instructions], you will abide in My love and live on in it, just as I have obeyed My Father's commandments and live on in His love.
      • 1 John 3:24 All who keep His commandments [who obey His orders and follow His plan, live and continue to live, to stay and] abide in Him, and He in them. [They let Christ be a home to them and they are the home of Christ.] And by this we know and understand and have the proof that He [really] lives and makes His home in us: by the [Holy] Spirit Whom He has given us.

        • Greatest commandments: To love God and to love people
        • To love God goes back to what we were already talking about, to keep His commandments–to do what He asks us to do and to do it well–to be willing and obedient. If our obedience flows out of our love for Him, we will do it with all of our might. If it flows out of obligation, we will do it religiously and lazily.
        • To love people is the most important thing we can do after loving God–and truly loving God involved loving people–they are intertwined. You can’t say you love God but hate people
        • 1 John 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
        • 1 John 4:20 NKJV: If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?
        • 1 John 3:15 NKJV Whoever hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life abiding in him.

• Psalm 62:8 AMPC Trust in, lean on, rely on, and have confidence in Him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts before Him. God is a refuge for us.

• Jeremiah 17:7-8 NKJV Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, And whose hope is the LORD. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear when heat comes; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in the year of drought, Nor will cease from yielding fruit.
