Our guest for today's podcast is Leo Cui, who is a General Partner at FoundersX Ventures, where he invests in AI and deep-tech companies from Seed through Series B, with a particular focus on the intersection of data, analytics, biotechnology, and enterprise technology.
Based in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Leo brings a rare combination of scientific depth and venture investing experience. He earned his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Harvard University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Professor Feng Zhang's lab at the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. His research in CRISPR and microfluidics led to multiple patents, peer-reviewed publications, and two spin-out companies focused on early cancer diagnostics and high-throughput drug discovery.
At FoundersX Ventures, Leo has backed companies including 1910 Genetics, Omniscope, Zafrens, Colabra, and Palamedrix. He also co-founded Nucleate, a student-led biotechnology entrepreneurship organization that expanded from Harvard to biohubs across the United States.
Leo has also built a loyal following on youtube for his deep research on all things AI. His deep dive titled "The Entire Data Center Explained" has amassed over 500,000 views and is a must view for AI investors.
Without further ado, here is our conversation with Leo Cui.
