Leafs Must Place Domi on LTIR | Toronto Maple Leafs News

The Toronto Maple Leafs are dangerously over the salary cap, needing to shed nearly $2.75 million to stay compliant. Trading a high-salary player like Dakota Joshua is tough, but the most direct solution? Placing Max Domi on long-term injured reserve — legitimately, not faked — to clear his full $3.25M cap hit. The league allows up to $3.97M in relief via LTIR this season, making it a viable short-term fix. But it’s temporary: Domi must be on LTIR for at least 24 days or 10 games. Without a season-ending placement, the Leafs will still need to trade someone eventually.
