One piece of my preparation for the European Coaching Festival of the Association for Coaching, where I hold a session called Coaching as a Political Act.

Today, six verbs from the festival's own page: reconnect, experience, consider, examine, connect, and leave.

European Coaching Festival, "Celebrating Humanity in Coaching", Association for Coaching. Tuesday 17 November 2026, 9:30am to 6pm, Belfast Exposed Gallery, Cathedral Quarter, Belfast, and online across Europe.

This piece is about introducing You Are It and what this is really about. In a nutshell, these introductions are content as well. They are an invitation to start to reflect on what we get ourselves into.

In this part: Grounding, The Journey Ahead, A Call to Step Beyond.

First, I highly recommend you read this section of another kind, the acknowledgement and recognition. We begin by appreciating and recognising the influences and inspirations which have sort of fertilised the ecosystem of thoughts and discoveries of the author. They are ecosystemic by nature, host to and co-creator of this journey.

We begin by setting the context. Here I share that the maps we inherit no longer match the territory we face. That leaders are not broken systems requiring repair, but expressions of larger patterns seeking recognition. This section prepares the philosophical ground. It names the quiet revolution already underway in how we understand development, leadership, and change. If you have felt that something fundamental is shifting in how we live and work together, this section will give you language for that sensing.

This is the first dimension. We descend into the ground beneath our feet: the accumulated layers of lived experience, family inheritance, cultural imprint, ancestral memory. Biography is not the past. It is the living foundation of every choice we make today. In this section, you will recognise how patterns laid down decades or generations ago continue to organise your responses, your relationships, your sense of what is possible. The invitation is not to escape this ground but to inhabit it more consciously.
