The Difference Between Giving Up & Surrendering!

Have you ever said, “I’m done!” but deep down you weren’t really done?

Surrender says: “I don’t have to control how this changes.”

Surrender gives God the fight.

Sometimes the answer isn’t doing more—it’s recognizing just how tired we really are.

Inspired by Dr. Saundra Dalton-Smith’s book Sacred Rest, we unpack the seven types of rest: physical, mental, emotional, sensory, creative, social, and spiritual. Because sleep alone doesn’t always fix exhaustion. Sometimes we’re tired in places a nap can’t reach.

We also look at Jesus’ words in Matthew 6:27:

“Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?”

How much energy are we spending worrying, striving, overthinking, and trying to control what only God can handle?

Maybe it’s time to stop running on empty, make room for real rest, and allow God to rebuild us from scratch.

What does it look like to have faith that stays rooted when life gets stormy?

Just like a palm tree develops the roots necessary to withstand strong winds, our faith must be deeply rooted in God before the storms come.

A new season does not always require us to work harder, move faster, or prove more. Sometimes God invites us to remain close, rest in His presence, and trust Him as our refuge.

In this episode, we explore Psalm 91 and what it means to abide under the shadow of the Almighty. Abiding is more than visiting God when life becomes difficult—it is choosing to dwell with Him daily. It is learning to remain connected to His voice, protected by His presence, and confident in His promises through every changing season.
