Step into the world of Landlady, where everything shifts for Ordynov, a reclusive young thinker, as he embarks on a quest for a new home. Observing from afar is the ailing landlord, while the enchanting landlady draws closer, weaving a complex tale of love, murder, and sorcery. This unique novella, penned by Fyodor Dostoevsky at just 26, carries the weight of his early genius before his exile to Siberia. Preceded only by The Double and Poor Folk, it draws from rich Russian folklore and the influences of Pushkin and Gogol, foreshadowing the profound themes that would shape Dostoevskys later masterpieces.
