Lake Highlands opens district play 1-0. The Wildcats ground out a 21-14 win at Plano East, and head coach Cory Campbell tells Matt Mosley the tough non-district schedule had a lot to do with it. Chris Thibodeaux, "Mr. Tibbs" on the radio call, finished with 11 catches for 177 yards and three touchdowns, and the defense played great all night.

Also in this one: two red-zone trips that came up empty because Campbell went for it instead of kicking, and his take on it: "We should have kicked both of them." Plus junior nose guard Jeremiah Lane's best game yet, how Conrad Ince and Mason Spangler keep Plano East's safeties deep, a sideline headset conversation that somehow reached the officials, the unsung hero of the week, and a scouting report on Berkner, the most athletic team Lake Highlands has seen so far.

District home opener: Lake Highlands vs. Berkner, Friday, Sept. 25, 7:00 p.m. at the Boneyard. The Wildcats go for 2-0 in district. Come out.
