Chinese New Year and Western New Year are two distinct celebrations that mark the beginning of a new year in their respective cultures. While both occasions symbolize fresh beginnings and hope for the future, they differ significantly in terms of traditions, dates, and customs.

Chinese New Year:

Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, follows the lunar calendar and typically falls between January 21 and February 20.

It marks the end of winter and the beginning of spring, symbolizing renewal and new growth.

Traditions and Customs:

Red envelopes (hongbao) filled with money are exchanged for good luck.

Lion and dragon dances are performed to ward off evil spirits.

Families reunite for a grand feast known as the "Reunion Dinner."

Fireworks and lanterns illuminate the night sky.

Zodiac Animals:

Each year in the Chinese zodiac cycle is associated with a specific animal sign, such as the Year of the Rat, Ox, or Tiger.

Western New Year is celebrated on January 1st, following the Gregorian calendar.

Singing "Auld Lang Syne" to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one.
