LJ Wells, a towering six-foot-eight forward who rose through the ranks at Eau Claire Memorial and thrived at Northern Kentucky, is set to join the Louisville Cardinals — a move made possible after winning a court battle for an extra year of eligibility. Averaging 15 points, 7 rebounds, and over 2 assists last season while earning Horizon League All-Tournament honors, Wells brings both stats and grit. Coach Pat Kelsey raves about his fit, calling him “one of us,” while Wells himself calls Louisville a “phenomenal program” and dreams of being a March Madness star. Beyond the court, he’s focused on growth — as a player and as a person — and hopes to inspire kids from smaller towns that their basketball dreams are within reach. His high school coach beams with pride, and Louisville fans are already excited for what’s next in the ACC.
