    2026/09/28

When we care deeply about someone, it’s easy to feel responsible for rescuing them.

Joseph D. Mize joins Kindling Fire to talk about following Jesus on mission while trusting Him with the work only He can do.

    In this episode, you’ll learn:

    • How to support people without trying to be their healer or the Holy Spirit in their lives.
    • How to recognize when a desire to help has become a rescuer identity.
    • What it means to ride shotgun with Jesus instead of taking the driver’s seat.

Joseph is a minister, songwriter, founder of Revealed Image Ministries, and author of The Outrider: Become the Man You Needed.

  • 215. Unless you change.. Jesus' words to Men- Kindling Fire with Troy Mangum
    2026/07/27
What does it really mean to be a man? Every culture has its own answer. The Greeks celebrated honor and glory. The Romans pursued power, status, and achievement. First-century Judaism carried its own expectations of masculinity. Today, modern culture offers everything from hustle culture to the Manosphere. Then Jesus enters the conversation—and overturns them all. Jesus consistently challenged the world's definition of strength, greatness, and success. His teachings confronted the values of every man’s definition with the challenge unless you change you will NOT enter the kingdom of heaven. In this episode I discuss: * Compare Greek, Roman, and modern Manosphere culture vs. Jesus’ teaching * What is taught about Honor * How to handle shames * Views of Humility * How to achieve glory and immortality * How the twelve disciples had radically different worldviews & how Jesus spoke against their worldviews * What Jesus meant by becoming like a child (Matthew 18:1–4) * The revolutionary nature of biblical humility (Matthew 23:12) Ultimately, Jesus doesn't simply improve our existing ideas of masculinity—He replaces them with an entirely different kingdom. In His kingdom, greatness is found in humility, strength in surrender, leadership in service, and life through self-giving love.
