In the final episode of our four-part series on the unsolved murder of JonBenét Ramsey, we turn our attention to the Ramsey family themselves — Patsy, Burke and John — and examine the theories, evidence and unanswered questions that have kept this case in the public eye for almost 30 years.

We revisit the controversial pineapple theory, the fibres found on the ransom note's duct tape, the disputed interpretation of the 911 call, the Ramsey family's decision to hire lawyers and private investigators, and the grand jury proceedings of 1999. We also discuss the DNA evidence that led to the Ramsey family being publicly cleared in 2008.

Then we get into some of the strangest and most debated details of the case: the alleged photograph taken inside the Ramsey home on Christmas night, the handwriting comparison involving Patsy Ramsey and the infamous ransom note, and the theories surrounding Burke Ramsey and the torch found in the house.

As always, we're separating documented evidence from speculation and looking at the theories that have developed around one of America's most notorious unsolved murders.

At the centre of all the theories, documentaries and decades of speculation remains the same fact: JonBenét Ramsey was a six-year-old girl whose murder remains officially unsolved.

Who killed JonBenét Ramsey?

In Part Three of our deep dive into one of the most notorious unsolved murder cases in modern history, Nikki and Cheryl examine the suspects, theories and bizarre confessions surrounding the murder of six-year-old JonBenét Ramsey.

From the intruder theory and the strange circumstances surrounding the ransom note, to the people investigated by police and the suspects who later inserted themselves into the case, we look at some of the most widely discussed possibilities surrounding JonBenét's death.

We examine the claims surrounding Gary Oliva, whose possession of images of JonBenét and later confession brought renewed attention to him, as well as John Mark Karr, who claimed he had murdered JonBenét before DNA evidence ultimately ruled him out.

But the investigation eventually comes back to the Ramsey family themselves. We look at the questions surrounding John Ramsey's actions on the morning JonBenét was found, the contamination of the crime scene, the family's interviews with investigators and the various theories that have circulated about what may have happened inside the Ramsey home.

And just when you think we're reaching the end of the case… we're not.
