"Kidnapped" by Robert Louis Stevenson tells the gripping tale of David Balfour, a seventeen-year-old orphan who is thrust into a perilous adventure after being sent to live with his miserly uncle, Ebenezer. When his uncle conspires to rid himself of David through a nefarious kidnapping plot, David finds himself aboard a brig bound for slavery in Carolina. A chance meeting with the resourceful Alan Breck Stewart leads to a fierce battle against the brig's crew, showcasing themes of loyalty, courage, and the fight against oppression. As David and Alan navigate the treacherous Scottish highlands, they confront not only physical dangers but also the moral complexities of justice and inheritance. This timeless narrative resonates today through its exploration of resilience in the face of betrayal and the enduring struggle for freedom, making it a compelling listen for anyone captivated by adventure and the quest for identity.
