The Saints are now in a full rebuild as Derek Carr announces he will retire. The move is a major opportunity for the franchise as it allows for the salary cap to be cleared for future moves speeding up the Kellen Moore rebuild. Tyler Shough and Spencer Rattler are now in a quarterback battle that could go all the way up to week one.

If the Saints first round selection wasn't enough to get the fanbase talking taking Tyler Shough at 40 was all it would take. The Saints took 9 total players in this draft showing signs that the era of rebuilding the existing model may be over. Kellen Moore will welcome his first draft class as the Quarterback Rumors stay hot with Derek Carr's 2025 season status completely unknown.

The Saints have made their 1st Round Selection in the 2025 NFL Draft with Texas Offensive Tackle Kelvin Banks Jr. The former Lombardi Award (top OL) & Outland Trophy (top OL/DL) winner will solidify the tackles as the saints select the position in consecutive years.

While a Quarterback was not selected the rest of the league was in a similar mindset as only two QBs would come off the board in round one. With many promises coming over the off season about changes to the offense it was yet to be seen during preseason if any of them would be kept. However, The Saints would put together a complete and dominant victory with control of the defensive and offensive flows. While not being a huge yardage game Derek Carr’s performance came in with his highest passer rating as a Saint carving the Carolina secondary.

The confidence gained will play a big factor as the Saints prepare for Dallas on Sunday. With a rise in quality of competition the big numbers put up against Carolina could be the baseline to fine the reality of where this team is.

Dennis Allen would keep to his word by having his ones stay on the field for three series. This would however prove mildly fruitful with one Taysom Hill touchdown providing the Saints only touch down.
