In Episode Seven of The Ember Files, Jax remembers the beginning of Karl: the investigations, the first kiss, the ordinary nights, and the strange little acts of love that slowly became home. And when Karl learns why Jax cannot sleep with a closet door closed, his solution is ridiculous, permanent, and exactly the kind of love Jax had never known how to trust.
