Kansas basketball is set for two high-stakes “Big Monday” showdowns in the 2026-27 season — a road test at Houston on Feb. 1 and a home date against Iowa State on March 1 — both primed to shape the Big 12 title race. The Jayhawks haven’t broken through in Houston since the conference realignment, but they’re 18-1 at home against Iowa State in Allen Fieldhouse. With Coach Bill Self nearing his 24th season and boasting an unblemished record on Big Mondays in Lawrence, these games could be among his final major tests — especially with ESPN projecting both teams as top-five contenders. Don’t miss either matchup: February’s road battle and March’s home clash could define Kansas’ championship run.

Kansas guard Tre’ White is now part of a high-stakes legal battle in Indiana, joining 89 other athletes from the 2022 recruiting class who played four years and are seeking an extra year under the NCAA’s new five-year eligibility rules. The case, still in motion after over five hours of testimony, hinges on whether the court will grant a preliminary injunction — with both sides racing to submit more evidence. Surprisingly, White hasn’t entered the transfer portal, and his team is asking the court to open it for him and others. Meanwhile, players like White, who recently impressed with the Miami Heat, are eyeing schools including Nebraska, Iowa, and Virginia — while the NCAA prepares to fight back. This ruling could reshape college basketball’s future for these athletes.

The Jayhawks are primed for two massive Big Monday showdowns this season — Houston on Feb 1 and Iowa State on March 1, both at 8 PM on ESPN. With a storied 85-25 record on Big Monday and an undefeated 41-0 home streak under Bill Self, KU’s dominance is no fluke. Last year’s grit included beating top-ranked Arizona without their star guard and pulling off a nail-biting road win over Texas Tech. Houston’s return brings new faces but familiar threats, while Iowa State’s roster boasts promising talent. The season kicks off in November — and the pressure’s on to keep the Big Monday magic alive.
