Spoiler alert: this week we’re analyzing the Twilight Zone episode “The Passersby.” Lavinia sits on her front porch, mourning the loss of her husband and home. All the while, soldiers march on the road in front of her home, young men from the war between the North and the South in the United States. When a sergeant stops by for a drink of water, she is happy for the company. He provides easy conversation and sweet music from his guitar. But the longer he lingers, the more he finds a bitter heart within the woman of the home. On this episode of KOI: A Twilight Zone Show, we’re going to be discussing how the arts & humanities play a role in revealing a message in this episode, focusing on the song “Black is the Color of My True Love’s Hair”; we’ll try and figure out what this mystery pathway is actually leading these men and women to; and I’ll reveal my moment of awe, a rather imperfect look at the need for imperfection.
