  • How do voters feel about a new Spurs arena downtown?
    2025/10/17

This week On The Record with Randy Beamer, we’re looking at a new poll out from UT San Antonio’s Center for Public Opinion Research on whether voters support the county Propositions on the November Ballot. Director Bryan Gervais explains how this polling could be indicative of the outcome of the vote.

Next, Bexar County Judge Peter Sakai outlines the two upcoming ballot propositions, what they mean, and how the taxing structure will work.

We talk with Maria Perez-Diaz, the local representative on the State Board of Education, about concerns over a newly-appointed social studies content advisor, David Barton. She explains why he is not the best fit for the job, and why the state board needs to take a different path.

On Reporter’s Roundtable, Express News Reporter Scott Huddleston talks with Randy about two recent stories he covered on the Alamo – the retraction of a post the General Land Office considered too “woke’, and a plan to have public school students help raise money through fundraising for the Texas Shrine.

  • ¡SALUD! to Celebrating & Making History
    2025/10/09

On this episode, learn how Latinas are changing history right before our eyes — in historical archives, inspirational pageants, and the food industry.

Imagine a museum dedicated to the history of Bexar County, led by an 11th-generation San Antonian - who is the first Latina to head up that museum. We talk with Belinda Mora Gavellos - Chair of the Bexar County Historical Commission - to learn about this historical role and the history she is working to preserve.

There was a time when beauty pageants focused solely on physical appearance; but that era is now one for the history books. Today, pageants like Miss Texas Latina celebrate Hispanic culture, empowerment, and community involvement. We meet Ms. Texas Latina 2024 Allegra Rodriguez and learn that, beyond her beauty, she is an inspiration in the world of science and technology.

Finally, many people celebrate their family history through food - gathering around the kitchen table to enjoy cherished family recipes. Entrepreneur Maria Flores wanted to honor her heritage by sharing her traditions through her company, Hess Street Foods. She speaks with Jessie Degollado about how she carved out her space in a highly competitive industry.
