In this episode, we reach a moment we never expected: Mom is discharged from the hospital… but our baby isn’t going home with her.

We share a little about our time at the Ronald McDonald House, what they do, and how they helped our family during a time when we didn’t even fully understand what resources were available to us.

Then came the emotional moment of being reunited with our other three children after everything that had happened.

But another difficult decision was waiting for Dad.

With our baby facing a possible 10-week NICU stay, was I going to go back home alone, return to work, and try to keep providing for our family? Or was I going to take time off and stay with my wife and our baby until he could finally come home?

How was I going to provide for my family if I wasn’t working?

There were a lot of unknowns, a lot of fear, and a whole lot of faith.

Sometimes a leap of faith means stepping forward without knowing exactly how everything is going to work out.

And through it all, we are incredibly thankful for every person who helped our family along the way.

This is Leap of Faith.

An emergency C-section. A baby born 10 weeks early. And a weight we will never forget: 3 lbs 3 oz.

But what followed was more than we ever could have prepared for.

After delivering our son, my wife’s kidneys weren’t turning on, and she was facing the terrifying reality of organ failure. While our tiny baby was in the NICU, she was fighting through her own battle of recovery.

Then came postpartum, one of the hardest showers of her life, a husband’s act of servanthood, and two days of not being able to see our baby.

And then finally… the moment we saw him for the first time.

Diagnosed with preeclampsia, then HELLP syndrome, what started as 24-hour observation at a bigger hospital quickly turned into a 10-week inpatient stay.

But that was only the beginning.

Death was lurking, and the shadows tried to get her and our baby. As things got worse, we found ourselves facing a situation we never could have imagined.
