Would you live forever if you had the choice?
In this episode, I talk with an AI about one of humanity’s oldest questions from a modern perspective: whether death gives life meaning, or whether that idea is simply something we tell ourselves because death has always seemed unavoidable.
We move from philosophy into the science and future of longevity, including rejuvenation research, longevity escape velocity, telomeres, AI-assisted medical discovery, biological versus technological immortality, and the possibility that future humans may become something very different from us.
But living much longer would change far more than medicine. We also explore inequality of access, falling birth rates, population growth, political power, innovation, space colonization, and whether extremely long-lived humans could eventually become an advantage for a civilization expanding beyond Earth.
The conversation ends with a more fundamental question: if humans may someday radically extend life, what exactly are we trying to preserve, and what happens when that life finally ends?
This is an unscripted conversation between me, journalist Juan Carlos Gómez, and an artificial intelligence. The AI can make mistakes, and its responses are part of the exploration, not evidence or expert testimony.
No final answers. Just new ways of seeing reality.
