What if success isn't about making more money — but having more freedom?

In Episode 8 of Journeys of Success, Shri sits down with Allisha Heidt, founder of Chickpeace, a Kelowna refill store built around sustainability, community, and making low-waste living more accessible.

Allisha's journey into entrepreneurship wasn't something she originally planned. After travelling abroad and witnessing the impact of plastic pollution firsthand, she pursued graduate studies in sustainability and eventually found herself building her first business while on maternity leave.

That first experience became what Allisha calls her “Entrepreneurship 101.”

She learned what happens when you try to do everything yourself, how difficult it can be to let go of control, and why building the right team can ultimately determine whether your business gives you freedom — or consumes your life.

Then, in March 2020, she began building Chickpeace.

Just as construction started, the world shut down.

Allisha shares how she navigated the uncertainty of opening a new business during COVID, learned to become more adaptable, built a loyal community around sustainable living, and created a workplace culture centered around trust, communication and “leading with love.”

Perhaps most importantly, Allisha shares her own definition of success:

Time freedom.

The ability to travel with her family, pick up her children from school, choose how she spends her days, and trust that the business can continue without her being involved in every decision.
