In Part 1 of this July 2, 2026 interview, Joe Lewels discusses the central ideas in his new book, The Soul Trap: Aliens, Ancient Scrolls, and Reincarnation. It is on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Soul-Trap-Ancient-Scrolls-Reincarnation/dp/0926524046/ref=sr_1_1?nsdOptOutParam=true&sr=8-1

Drawing on more than 30 years of research into UFO contact experiences, hypnosis, and past-life regression, Joe explains why he believes most UFO researchers have avoided what he calls the "Three Forbidden R's": reptilians, religion, and reincarnation.

Joe discusses the soul trap hypothesis, Gnostic Christianity, the Dead Sea Scrolls, the Nag Hammadi texts, and ancient traditions that he believes reveal a long spiritual struggle involving humanity.

Brian Ruhe compares Joe's ideas with the Theravada Buddhist teachings on karma, rebirth, devas, asuras, and liberation, exploring both the similarities and the differences between their worldviews. Together they discuss consciousness, UFOs, spirituality, ancient religions, and the possibility that the UFO mystery is far deeper than a simple extraterrestrial visitation.

Topics include:
• The inspiration behind The Soul Trap
• The Three Forbidden R's
• Why Joe left MUFON
• Reptilians in UFO research
• Gnostic Christianity and the Dead Sea Scrolls
• Ancient texts and the soul trap hypothesis
• Buddhism compared with Joe's spiritual model
• Karma, rebirth, and liberation
• The relationship between UFOs and consciousness

Part 2 continues this fascinating discussion.
