What does the end of the world look like to you? Does it involve blood cloaks, multi-headed dragons, and Bill Clinton? More importantly, is it insanely metal? In Episode 6, the gang finds out that for Evangelicals, the end is both very long and oddly specific. MK takes us through how he learned some totally sick passages from the Book of Revelation as a kid in the 1990s, Ian expresses surprise at the “zombie-ness” of it all, and Kathy has both praise for the beautiful writing and Scully-style skepticism for the prophetic nature of the text.

Did you have a favorite band when you were growing up? One that gave you a sense of identity and purpose? What if that purpose was saving your friends from eternal damnation by being super cool?

MK takes the gang on a deep dive into one of his favorite bands in the late 80s / early 90s, Degarmo and Key. Their 1989 album, The Pledge, represented a turning point in both Christian rock music and MK's feelings about his faith. Ian explains his deeply rooted skepticism of Speaking in Tongues, and Kathy waxes rhapsodic about inappropriate music videos for rock songs that preach the gospel.

He’s the (Christian) reason for the season: the man, the (not actually a) myth, the legend—Jesus Christ. Who was he? What does the bible actually say about him? Is he "super serious", or kind of a cool dude?

MK does a quasi-devotional about the opening of the Book of John, Kathy explains the flex of blue pigment in the ancient art world, and Ian talks about the ups and downs of his contextless childhood encounters with JC.

Get ready throw up the horns (AKA "el cronado") for our very first Bonus Episode! Listener Elizabeth suggested the gang should watch the 1989 Christian documentary "Hell's Bells: The Dangers of Rock and Roll" and OH BOY DID WE EVER. MK is alternately reminded of his childhood and blown away, Kathy is inspired by Prince concert footage when she's not terrified of plant prophecies, and Ian has some sympathy for the (backmasking) devil.
