Chapter 4 — The Detective Wall

By sunrise, Jake had turned his apartment into a detective headquarters filled with maps, newspaper clippings, and red string. Mia stared at the setup, unsure whether it was genius or insanity. Jake proudly unveiled his “Detective Wall,” explaining that every string connected clues and suspects. Aria noticed Sheriff Lucas Hayes appeared on nearly every historical map of Redwood. Jake joked that Hayes was like Wi-Fi—always in the background and always suspicious. Mia predicted they would end up chased by security guards. Jake replied that solving Redwood’s biggest mystery and getting chased were basically the same thing.

    Chapter 5 — The Sheriff’s Secret

The next morning, Jake confronted Sheriff Lucas Hayes. While Hayes remained calm, Jake noticed a nervous twitch. Pretending to make casual conversation, Jake accused him of knowing more about the missing key than he admitted. Hayes warned that Jake had a habit of chasing trouble. Jake proudly agreed, claiming trouble loved him back.

Chapter 6 — Midnight Inside Town Hall

Near midnight, Jake, Mia, and Aria broke into Town Hall searching for answers. Aria reminded everyone that they were technically committing a crime, while Jake insisted adventure had its own legal charm. Inside, the building smelled of old wood and forgotten records. Jake pointed to a locked records room, convinced it contained a map to an underground vault. When Aria asked what happened if he was wrong, Jake produced lockpicks and called it an awkward field trip.

Chapter 7 — The Hidden Vault

Jake successfully picked the lock and the group entered a dusty archive room. While Mia feared they would find nothing but old parking tickets, Aria discovered a file labeled REDWOOD VAULT. Inside was a map revealing something hidden beneath Redwood since the town’s founding. Aria predicted it would ruin their lives. Jake called that the exciting part.

    Chapter 8 — Blackwater Tunnel

Following the map, the group entered Blackwater Tunnel beneath Redwood. Mia threatened to haunt Jake if anything went wrong. Aria warned him not to sell any discovered artifact online. Suddenly, a loud metallic clank echoed through the darkness. Jake whispered that it was either victory or extremely angry plumbing. Nobody was completely sure.

Chapter 9 — The Second Conspiracy

The tunnel led to an abandoned railway platform filled with rust and flickering lights. Jake announced they had uncovered a second layer of the conspiracy. Mia sarcastically suggested the villain might be evil train schedules. Aria worried she would develop a caffeine addiction before the mystery ended. Jake suggested opening a detective agency and coffee shop together.

Chapter 10 — The Blackwood Files

Inside a hidden vault, the group found old documents and a suspicious ledger. One name appeared repeatedly: SHERIFF LUCAS HAYES. Jake concluded that Hayes had concealed connections between his family and Redwood’s founding. Determined to expose the truth, Jake announced they would confront Hayes at dawn. Aria immediately accused him of practicing the speech beforehand. He admitted she was probably right.

    Epilogue — The Lighthouse Cipher

Three days later, Redwood returned to normal. Jake, Mia, and Aria relaxed at Redwood Café while reading news of the council scandal. Then a mysterious envelope arrived with no return address. Inside was a photograph of a storm-battered lighthouse and a message:

    THE LIGHTS ARE ON AGAIN.

Despite Mia’s objections, Jake immediately accepted the challenge. As lightning flashed in the distance, he grabbed his jacket and prepared for the next mystery.

  • Chapter 3 — The Locked Records Room
    2026/05/31

    "By midnight…”

Already a terrible start to any sentence.

“…Jake, Mia, and Aria were crouched behind Redwood Town Archives—”

“…because, of course, breaking and entering was the perfect way to spend a Tuesday night.”

    Aria whispered:

    “Reminder… this is technically illegal.”

    Jake grinned immediately.

    “It’s illegal with a purpose.”

    Sir.

That is NOT how laws work.

    Mia said exactly that.

“Jake, that’s not how laws work. This is literally how people end up in prison.”

Jake shrugged while climbing toward the window like a raccoon with confidence.

    “Adventure trespassing. Totally different.”

    Inside—

    the archive basement smelled like—

“old paper and poor life choices.”

    INCREDIBLE description.

Rows of dusty files stretched endlessly.

Like a librarian’s final boss level.

    Mia eyed the room suspiciously.

“If this all ends with us getting a history lecture from a ghost…”

    “…I’m quitting the detective business.”

    Jake smirked instantly.

“Ghosts are just history’s way of saying…”

    “…I really wanted better security.”

Aria found the dusty map pinned to the wall.

    “Look at this.”

“Every time this town built something new…”

“…it pointed toward the council building.”

    Jake tapped the map dramatically.

“And guess who probably has a secret tunnel under his office?”

    Mia raised an eyebrow.

    “Let me guess.”

    “Sheriff Lucas Hayes?”

    Jake smirked slowly.

    “We’re just getting started.”

    And somewhere—

    dramatic Netflix music started playing.

    2026/05/31

    “At 11:42 PM…”

    Already a dangerous time.

"Someone slipped an envelope beneath Jake’s apartment door.”

    No name. No stamp.

    Just—

“a cryptic vibe that screamed THIS IS DEFINITELY A GOOD IDEA TO OPEN AT MIDNIGHT.”

    Jake opened it immediately.

Because survival instincts are optional for fictional detectives.

    Inside—

    a black-and-white photograph.

A teenage boy standing near Redwood Harbor.

    And behind him—

“an abandoned lighthouse shrouded in fog…”

“…like it was auditioning for a horror movie.”

    Outstanding visual.

    On the back—

    five handwritten words:

    THE KEY OPENS EVERYTHING.

    Jake grinned slowly.

“…like a cat that just found the cream stash.”

    Mia immediately pointed at him.

    “No.”

    Jake blinked innocently.

    “What face?”

“The ‘I’m about to ignore all rational sleep patterns and chase a criminal conspiracy’ face.”

    Perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Jake grabbed his leather jacket dramatically.

    “Ladies…”

    “…it’s time.”

    “We have clues.”

“And also, I may or may not be obsessed with lighthouses.”

    Aria rubbed her forehead.

“Jake, if this lighthouse leads to buried pirate treasure…”

“…I’m pretending I never met you.”

    Jake opened the door dramatically.

    “Pirate treasure, haunted lighthouse—”

“…this is just Tuesday for us.”

    And honestly?

That sentence explains their entire friendship dynamic

  • Chapter 1-Jake Morales And Blackwood Key
    2026/05/31

    The Stolen Blackwood Key

“Redwood Museum shut its doors at 8:00 PM sharp—”

    dramatic narrator pause

“—because, of course, even a tiny town like Redwood needs a curfew.”

    But by 8:07 PM—

    every alarm inside went berserk.

🚨 WEE-OOO WEE-OOO 🚨 SECURITY PANIC 🚨 ONE GUY DEFINITELY RUNNING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION

    Police flooded in.

Staff panicked like they’d misplaced a nuclear launch code.

    And security guards ran everywhere…

“…like chickens on a caffeine rush.”

    Beautiful sentence. Absolute chaos. Cinema.

    And right in the middle—

    one shattered glass display case.

    Empty.

“The Blackwood Key,” the museum curator whispered—

    wide-eyed—

“like he’d just seen a ghost dressed in gold.”

    Fantastic line.

    “It’s been stolen.”

Police swarmed the building like it was a clearance sale.

    No fingerprints. No forced entry.

Just the glass case sitting there like—

“…it had given up on life.”

    Meanwhile—

    behind the caution tape—

holding coffee like it was a magical healing artifact—

    stood Jake Morales.

    Grinning.

    Of course he was grinning.

“You know,” he said casually, swirling his coffee, “for a quaint little town, Redwood is really committed to its crime aesthetic.”

    Mia turned slowly.

“A priceless artifact was just stolen…”

“…and somehow you look like you’re about to audition for a crime TV show.”

Jake gestured GRANDLY toward the case.

“Mia. That artifact is called the Blackwood Key.”

    dramatic beat

“It’s like the James Bond of keys.”

    Honestly?

    That line deserves an award.

    Aria adjusted her glasses.

“Yes, and this is a felony.”

    Jake nodded thoughtfully.

    “Technically…”

    “…it’s a mystery-flavored crime.”

    Mia rubbed her temples.

“One day, I want normal friends—ones who don’t get us chased by criminals.”

Jake took another sip of coffee.

    Completely unfazed.

    “Where’s the fun in normal?”

THAT’S the exact sentence people say before ending up in underground tunnels.

    Then—

Sheriff Lucas Hayes glanced toward them.

    And Jake noticed immediately.

    Because Jake Morales notices everything.

    Including suspicious blinking probably.

    “That look?” Jake whispered dramatically.

    “Something is off.”

Mia sighed the sigh of a woman already exhausted by destiny.

    “Of course it is.”

“And now we’re probably going to be up all night chasing it.”

    Jake stood up.

    Grabbed his jacket.

    Heroically.

    “That’s the spirit.”

    dramatic music intensifies

    “Let’s get this mystery rolling.”
