I started watching South Park as a teenager in high school, and all these years later, I’m STILL watching. But the crazy part is that while Stan, Kyle, Cartman and Kenny barely aged, South Park itself completely evolved.
In this episode of Wair18 Talks About Everything, I look back at my history with the show—from the early days of Kenny dying every episode and Cartman causing chaos to the rise of Butters, Randy Marsh, Tegridy Farms, serialized storytelling and South Park becoming one of television’s fastest forms of pop-culture satire.
I also get into the legendary South Park vs. Family Guy beef, why The Simpsons relationship was completely different, the evolution of Mr. Garrison, and how Trey Parker and Matt Stone have managed to keep reinventing the series.
And, of course, I break down my three favorite characters:
Butters Stotch. Eric Cartman. Randy Marsh.
After watching this show since my teens, what keeps bringing me back?
Maybe South Park grew up with me even though the kids never did.
Who are your top 3 South Park characters, and what era of the show is your favorite?
