A Weekend of Taco Frustrations, Family Birthdays, and Grammy Opinions

Why is it so hard to just swap one taco for another?

Jeff's weekend started with a frustrating Friday night at a Mexican restaurant where the server refused to let them substitute a fish taco into their chorizo and steak trio selection. (Seriously, how hard can it be?) The weekend that followed was packed with celebrations: birthday gatherings for both Mike at Tees and Taps and Marie at Jen's, complete with virtual golf, endless food, and cake. On Sunday, Jeff's family celebrated multiple birthdays while welcoming their mother back from a trip.

Sam also caught the Grammys. Bruno Mars's opening performance stood out, though they felt uncomfortable with how some aging legends were presented on stage. The Post Malone and Slash tribute to Ozzy Osbourne was a highlight, but the multi-artist tribute segment felt confusing and overly crowded.

The week wrapped with discussions about Ryan Murphy's new FX series "Beauty" and some surprisingly delicious chicken wing soup.

  • Chit Chat 188 Seattle Trip Booked, TSA Troubles, and Kidney Stones
    2026/01/30

After months of procrastination, Jeff finally books their Seattle trip, saving Sam from having to tell everyone it was canceled (again). But the relief is short-lived when they dive into the chaos that is TSA PreCheck. Sam recounts a maddening Orlando airport experience where security staff couldn't agree on whether he actually had PreCheck status, forcing him through both lines. Why do airlines make us manually enter those TSA numbers every single time?

The conversation takes an unexpected medical turn when one speaker reveals they underwent kidney stone removal surgery on Monday. Despite being sedated for the first time and waking up disoriented, they declined the wheelchair and headed home to Miles, chicken finger pizza with blue cheese, and quality television. Recovery goals, honestly.

Between speed dating events with deviled-egg-devouring attendees, guilty gym cancellations with accountability partner Nettie, and weekend brunches at Roost (political reservations aside), these two pack a lot into their weeks. They discuss Southwest Airlines' anxiety-inducing lack of assigned seating, debate whether modern TV is unnecessarily long, and share book recommendations including Faith Gardner's "The Mirror House Girls" and Freida McFadden's "Dear Debbie."

What makes a speed dating event truly successful when half the attendees already know each other from previous dates?

Tune in for honest conversations about life's absurdities, medical adventures, and why watching podcasts on YouTube during workouts is actually genius.

  • Chit Chat 187 Divorce Drama, Sports Road Trips, and Oscar Debate
    2026/01/23

What happens when a shattered urinal becomes the secret you take to your grave?

Sam and Jeff dive into the week's biggest celebrity drama, starting with Kyle and Amanda's Summer House divorce. Sam pulls no punches about Kyle's infidelity and treatment of Amanda (who's finally breaking free). The conversation then shifts to Brooklyn Beckham's family tensions with Victoria and David, including claims about a ruined wedding that led to secret vow renewals without family present.

From celebrity gossip, the hosts transition to Buffalo Bills frustrations and Sam's whirlwind weekend. After watching her sister's dogs and catching a Bandits game, she headed to Denver for a Bills matchup despite that brutal 5:15 AM flight. The Y2K-themed game delivered great halftime entertainment, though the real story came later at a brewery where a bathroom incident involving a destroyed urinal created absolute chaos.

Beyond the urinal incident (which shall remain unspoken), Sam explored Denver with friend Corinne, visiting everything from the Molly Brown Museum to Columbine High School on a true crime tour. They even stopped at the International Church of Cannabis for meditation and laser shows. Back home, Sam celebrated her 41st birthday before catching a Will Arnett film about navigating divorce through stand-up.
