  • Hebrews 4:14-5:10 Bible Study - A Better Priesthood
    2026/06/17

Discover the profound significance of Jesus Christ as our "Great High Priest" through this in-depth exploration of Hebrews 04.14-05.10. In this study, we contrast the traditional Old Testament Levitical priesthood—established through the lineage of Aaron—with the superior, eternal priesthood of Christ. Human high priests were divinely chosen from among the people to serve as intercessors and comforters for Israel. Jesus is the uniquely begotten Son of God who functions as our ultimate high priest in the timeless order of Melchizedek, offering a perfect, sinless, and permanent intercession from His heavenly seat at the right hand of the Father. By examining how Jesus fulfills these three essential priestly roles—being divinely chosen, acting as our perfect intercessor, and serving as our ultimate comforter—this message highlights His capacity to truly empathize with our weaknesses because He was tempted in every way. This teaching provides a direct application for your daily walk, encouraging you to hold firmly to your faith and to approach God’s throne of grace with absolute confidence. Whether you are seeking a deeper understanding of biblical theology or looking for practical spiritual encouragement, this study reveals how resting in Christ's finished work brings true mercy, grace, and peace in your time of needTeaching Notes: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1G6EjH-SZuAKWwgcsNdrDiTvRaFedYj2d_YHyIErtpQQ/edit?usp=sharing

  • Romans 12:9-21 Bible Study - Beyond the Checklist: See the Fruit, Not the Formula (Guest Teaching)
    2026/06/10

In this impactful, verse-by-verse Bible study on Romans 12:9–21, Dave Bigler (guest teaching at New Life Fellowship, Wilton NY) unpacks the Apostle Paul’s radical call to Christian living. Shifting from the foundational theology of the "Romans Road" in chapters 1–11, chapter 12 serves as a practical commencement address for believers, challenging us to drop the masks and pursue sincere love. While the extensive list of commands—including practicing hospitality, blessing those who persecute you, and living at peace with everyone—can easily feel like an overwhelming, Pharisaical Christian to-do list, Bigler reminds us that these attributes are a formula for exhaustion if attempted under our own strength. Instead, we must view these behaviors as the natural fruit and overflowing evidence of the Holy Spirit actively working within a transformed heart.

To see this spiritual fruit truly flourish without falling into the trap of legalism, the teaching highlights two life-long spiritual disciplines: consistently studying God’s Word and dedicating daily time to prayerful relationship with the Lord. By shifting our focus away from a strict religious checklist and anchoring our identity in who God is and how He uniquely sees us, we unlock the supernatural ability to handle life’s afflictions with joy, value others above ourselves, and overcome evil with unexpected good. Whether navigating complex marriage dynamics, workplace relationships, or the deep political divisions of our current culture, this message provides a powerful blueprint for allowing Christ's love to authentically pour through us into a broken world.

  • Hebrews 4:12-13 Bible Study - The Word of God
    2026/06/03

What does it mean that the Word of God is alive and active? In this powerful verse-by-verse Bible study, Dave Bigler breaks down Hebrews 4:12-13 to reveal how God's truth penetrates to the deepest parts of who we are, exposing our hearts and pointing us to salvation. This deep dive explores the three distinct yet unified realities of God's Word—the Written Scripture, the Spoken Voice of the Creator, and the Living Word in Jesus Christ. We also unpack what it means to wield the "Sword of the Spirit" (machaira) to cut through deception in real-time and live a life of true Christian discipleship.

Using a powerful illustration from C.S. Lewis’s The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, this study demonstrates how letting God lay us bare isn't meant to condemn us, but to beautifully transform us from the inside out. Nothing in all creation is hidden from His sight, but through Jesus, our High Priest, we can approach the throne of grace with complete confidence.

  • Hebrews 03:07-4:11 Bible Study - Do not harden your hearts, but rest in the Lord
    2026/05/27

In this study of Hebrews 03.07-04.11, we explore the sobering warning to "harden not your hearts" by looking back at Israel’s rebellion in the wilderness. Through the lens of Psalm 95, we examine the missed opportunities of a generation that witnessed incredible miracles—from the parting of the Red Sea to divine provision in the desert—yet failed to enter God's rest due to a lack of faith and persistent disobedience. This historical "rebellion" at Massah and Meribah serves as a vital counselor for us "today," reminding us that a hardened heart often stems from doubting God's provision and refusing to trust His character in the midst of our own trials. The central focus of this teaching is understanding the nature of "The Rest" offered to believers. This is not merely a future hope for heaven or a physical settlement in a promised land, but a present reality of dwelling in the shelter of the Most High. By examining the relationship between faith and rest in Psalm 91.01, we learn that we enter this rest by actively trusting in the Lord’s faithfulness as our 'refuge and fortress.' The study concludes with a practical exhortation to encourage one another daily and to make every effort to enter that rest, specifically through the God-given gift of the Sabbath, which helps us perpetually live under His wing.Study Notes:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1zI88oSVsrFyQsGXHtEa775uSRiNDmMrTWifmKqKBOJ8/edit?usp=sharing

  • Hebrews 03:01-06 Bible Study. Better than Moses
    2026/05/20

In this study of Hebrews 3:1-6, we explore the monumental transition from the authority of Moses to the supremacy of Jesus Christ. For the first-century Jewish audience, Moses was the ultimate figure of faith—the deliverer from Egypt, the giver of the Law, and the mediator of the Old Covenant. However, the author of Hebrews systematically demonstrates that while Moses was a faithful servant in God’s house, Jesus is the divine Son and builder over the house. By examining the rich historical context of who Moses was to a 1st-century Jew, we see that the call to "fix our thoughts on Jesus" is not a dismissal of the past, but an invitation to embrace the one who fulfills every promise Moses ever recorded. Building on the foundations laid in chapters 1 and 2—which establish Jesus as superior to angels and the perfect human high priest—this lesson dives into the powerful "house" analogy. We define what "God's House" truly is, tracing it from the physical Tabernacle and Temple to the "living stones" of the modern Church. Through teaching points on Jesus as our Apostle and High Priest, we learn that our security as part of God's household depends on holding firmly to our confidence in Christ. Whether you are looking to deepen your understanding of biblical typology or seeking strength to stay faithful under pressure, this study highlights why Jesus is truly "Better than Moses".TEACHING NOTES: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1K8i2X-vv11Uy2OIXcCLcgED22WEM8_ZqIYLHBebLsMg/edit?usp=sharing

  • Hebrews 02:5-18 Bible Study - Better through His Humanity.
    2026/05/13

In this study of Hebrews 2:5-18, we explore how Jesus is "Better through His Humanity," examining why it was necessary for Him to be made lower than the angels for a time. We dive into the concept of Olam Ha-Ba, or "the world to come," revealing God’s original design for mankind to have dominion over creation—a glory we lost at the Fall but which Jesus has regained as the Pioneer of our salvation. By "tasting death" for everyone, Jesus ransomed humanity and broke the power of the devil, who uses the fear of death to keep us in bondage. Through His suffering and shared human experience, Jesus is not only our exalted King but also our sympathetic High Priest who is able to help those being tempted. This talk breaks down key historical context, such as the origin of chapter and verse divisions, while providing deep theological insights into how Christ's humanity qualifies Him to lead us into eternal glory. Join us as we discuss why a loving God allows for free will and how we can live free from the fear of death, knowing that our chains have been cut through the finished work of Christ.TEACHING NOTES:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QHku3CDcSduf4s7wGZPXdi19CoBWZVyIth-bdwjTQ9I/edit?usp=sharing

  • Matthew 20:17-19 Bible Study - The Fog of the Followers. Guest Teaching
    2026/05/06

In this teaching, titled "The Fog of the Followers," we dive into Matthew 20:17–19 to explore the striking contrast between the clarity of Jesus and the confusion of His disciples. As Jesus set His face toward Jerusalem, He provided an explicit, detailed roadmap of His impending betrayal, crucifixion, and resurrection. Yet, despite His directness, the disciples remained "in a fog"—blinded by their own expectations, distracted by internal status disputes, and emotionally overwhelmed. By examining these "Passion Predictions" across the Gospels, we learn that the disciples weren’t just slow to understand; their spiritual eyes were veiled until the Lord personally opened their minds. This message challenges us to identify the "fog" in our own lives that prevents us from truly hearing God's voice today. Through a three-part call to action, we discuss how to shift our focus from our own "crowns" back to Christ’s cross, how to silence the daily static through the intentional practice of Sabbath, and how to become truly dependent on the Divine for spiritual wisdom. Whether you are struggling with daily stress or feeling stuck in your faith, this teaching provides a roadmap for moving out of the fog and into the life-changing clarity of the Gospel.Teaching notes:https://docs.google.com/document/d/1SWgB4CSRqRaQ-yZBL0cAaLS6cAeMw4G1-tX3KkWekWk/edit?usp=sharing

  • Hebrews 02:01-04 Bible Study - A Warning Not to Drift Away
    2026/04/29

This verse-by-verse study of Hebrews 2:1-4 explores a critical warning for believers: the danger of drifting away. Drawing from the author's frequent use of the word "therefore," we examine how the supremacy of Christ—as the creator and sustainer of all things—serves as the ultimate anchor for our faith. Just as the message spoken through angels was binding and every violation received its just punishment, we must recognize that our salvation through Jesus is even more profound. God has confirmed this message through signs, wonders, and the gifts of the Holy Spirit, making it clear that ignoring so great a salvation carries eternal consequences. The central caution in this passage isn't against a sudden rejection of faith, but a slow, passive drift caused by the currents of the world. By looking at the "therefore" of Christ’s character and the binding nature of the Old Covenant, we see that the New Covenant is even more significant because of the high cost of Jesus’ sacrifice. To stay anchored, we must be intentional in our devotion, staying grounded in God's Word and remaining connected to a Bible-believing fellowship. This study challenges us to evaluate what we are doing to stay anchored against the flow of society and ensures we pay the most careful attention to what we have heard.
