• Discipleship vs Indoctrination w/ Kris Hutson
    2025/06/12

This week, Debi and Sam are joined by Kris Hutson, superintendent of Dream City Christian Schools.

Kris, Debi and Sam discuss the importance of Christian education.

Children spend roughly 16,000 hours of their lives in school from kindergarten through high school. Are those hours being used to disciple or indoctrinate children? As culture grows increasingly hostile to a biblical worldview, Christian influences become more important.

Kris, Debi and Sam also discuss school choice laws in Arizona and how they can help parents make the best educational decisions for their children. They explain ESAs and STOs, how they can help make Christian education affordable for families and how taxpayers, both individuals and businesses can get a dollar for dollar tax credit for STO donations to help other families.

  • Federal vs Local Power
    2025/06/07

This week, Debi and Sam host a solo episode to provide a crash course of federal, state and local government.

The national political landscape takes most of the public focus but we can have the most impact at the local and state level.

Debi and Sam explain the basics of what each level of government is responsible for managing, how the Founders intended for that separation to work, and how those lines have become murkier over time.

They also go over some real life examples of how federal and local entities' powers overlap and affect our day to day lives. A breakdown of Federal and State powers https://govfacts.org/explainer/understanding-federalism-vs-states-rights-a-citizens-guide-to-power-in-the-u-s/

  • Defunding Big Abortion w/ Mayra Rodriguez
    2025/05/30

This week, Debi and Sam are joined by Mayra Rodriguez. Mayra is a former Planned Parenthood trainer and clinic director who is now a national pro-life activist.

Mayra, Debi and Sam discuss taxpayer funding and Planned Parenthood. Last year, Planned Parenthood received almost 800 million dollars in taxpayer funding, almost 2 million dollars per day. They discuss why executive orders cannot fully defund Planned Parenthood and other abortion mills.

Mayra, Debi and Sam discuss Title X and Medicaid and the ways in which Planned Parenthood abuses the system, takes money from other federally qualified health centers that provide a wider range of services, and often double and triple count services to gain access to more funding. They also discuss why this practice means that their reported percentages of services are not accurate. For example, they dishonestly claim that abortion only makes up 3% of their services.

There is a current Supreme Court case, Medina v Planned Parenthood South Atlantic, related to state's rights to defund Planned Parenthood through Medicaid and the "Big Beautiful Bill" passed the US House containing language to defund Planned Parenthood, also through Medicaid. This episode explains why this type of defunding is critical.

  • The Commodification of Pregnancy
    2025/05/23

This week, Debi and Sam host a solo episode to discuss some of the ethical concerns within the big money business of the fertility industry.

This is an episode you may want to preview before allowing young children to listen.

Debi and Sam discuss the dangers of egg harvesting. Many young women get ads luring them to sell their eggs. This is also a procedure that is required for both IVF and surrogacy. However, few are talking about the immediate and long-term consequences of this procedure and the fact that it often involves the exploitation of young women.

They also discuss some of the ethical concerns for both mother and child with both IVF and surrogacy. Just because we CAN do something, does not always mean we SHOULD. Research more with the following links.

Aubrey, Debi and Sam talk about the views and parenting styles of Millennials and Gen Z.

So many young women have been either fearful of motherhood or feel as though it is a negative experience. Aubrey talks about how she never held a baby or changed a diaper until she had her own child a little over a year ago. She had to re-evaluate her own views on motherhood. Now she is trying to reframe the narrative for other young women so they can see they joy in the experience.

Aubrey also talked about getting "old school" parenting tips from older women in the church that have made parenting much more practical and less stressful. • Diving into DEI w/ Goldwater Institute
    2025/05/08

This week, Debi and Sam are joined by Jenna Bentley, director of government affairs, and Matt Beienburg, director of education policy at Goldwater Institute.

Debi, Sam, Jenna and Matt discuss the ballot initiative process and the need to prohibit DEI in state law.

In Arizona, there are multiple ways to get a proposition on the ballot. It can be confusing for voters, especially since our laws differ from other states. Jenna breaks down the process, and Debi talks about why it is important to fully vet signature campaigns before helping to get something on the ballot.

Matt discussed why an executive order does not solve the DEI problem and how multiple states are drafting legislation to protect their constituents beyond the current presidential administration.

  • Holding the Line in California w/ Dave Ansell
    2025/05/02

This week, Debi and Sam are joined by Dave Ansell, pastor of the Scottsdale campus of Dream City Church.

Pastor Dave was a pastor in California prior to joining the Dream City family. He talked about living and holding church services in southern California during the COVID lockdowns and how his eyes were opened to the manipulation and control that was happening. It was ok to protest in the streets and go to pot dispensaries, but churches were supposed to stay closed and singing wasn't allowed. He eventually took a stand and opened his church when few others in his state were willing.

Pastor Dave, Sam and Debi also talked about the difference that church communities can make, even in states that are hostile to Christians. They talked about the two California campuses of Dream City Church and how God is moving in those communities.
