This week, Debi is joined by homeschool mom Leslie Paulsen

Leslie shares her story of homeschooling and graduating her 3 adult children, and now homeschooling 6 more.

Nine years ago, Leslie and her husband gained custody of their 6 grandchildren, later formally adopting them. Leslie talks about how she was not initially planning to homeschool them. However, there were some issues with bullying at school, and other difficulties due to trauma. After COVID shutdowns brought the kids home, she and her husband realized that they needed to switch gears. ESA has allowed her to create an educational opportunity for each child that she would not otherwise be able to provide for these six amazing children.

Leslie also shares her firsthand experience navigating the guardrails and oversight that already exist for purchases in the program.

Nancy and Debi discuss some of the history of pro-life legislation in Arizona and how it was the life issue that caused Nancy to first run or the state legislature.

They discuss the fallout from Prop 139 passing in 2024 and how far culture has shifted on the issue of life. They also discuss how many politicians are distancing themselves from the life issue.

Finally, they talk about why the life issue is still critically important but that we need to rethink and shift how we discuss the topic. Nancy talks about her work on a new project doing just that. Debi and Nancy also talk about areas of hope in the life arena and how we can see things shifting for good.
