This week, Debi is joined by homeschool mom Leslie Paulsen

Leslie shares her story of homeschooling and graduating her 3 adult children, and now homeschooling 6 more.

Nine years ago, Leslie and her husband gained custody of their 6 grandchildren, later formally adopting them. Leslie talks about how she was not initially planning to homeschool them. However, there were some issues with bullying at school, and other difficulties due to trauma. After COVID shutdowns brought the kids home, she and her husband realized that they needed to switch gears. ESA has allowed her to create an educational opportunity for each child that she would not otherwise be able to provide for these six amazing children.

Leslie also shares her firsthand experience navigating the guardrails and oversight that already exist for purchases in the program.

Nancy and Debi discuss some of the history of pro-life legislation in Arizona and how it was the life issue that caused Nancy to first run or the state legislature.

They discuss the fallout from Prop 139 passing in 2024 and how far culture has shifted on the issue of life. They also discuss how many politicians are distancing themselves from the life issue.

Finally, they talk about why the life issue is still critically important but that we need to rethink and shift how we discuss the topic. Nancy talks about her work on a new project doing just that. They discuss the history of socialism, why it originally gained popularity in the 19th century and why we've seen a resurgence in its popularity in the last decade. There are real world problems facing young adults today that cannot be ignored. Democratic Socialism offers clear but false promises to make their world more equitable. Real world socialism increases the divide between rich and poor, rewards corruption and makes important commodities more scarce or more expensive.

Mike and Tiffany share their own story of watching their son struggle with addiction and the steps they took to help him. This led to them connecting with Celebrate Recovery.

They talk about some of the specific things that Celebrate Recovery offers, including what is available at Dream City Church. They highlight that addiction is only one of many different types of hurts, hangups and habits that CR can address. They also discuss the similarities and differences between CR and AA.

Programs and counseling have their place, but ultimately many people remain in bondage to addiction and past hurts and only God can provide true and lasting freedom.

Gabrielle talks about growing up in a strong Christian home, attending church multiple times a week and going to Christian school. Even with all of those positive, godly influences she still had to make her faith her own.

Gabrielle and Debi discuss how too many young people coast through growing up in church and live off of their parents' faith but never truly develop a strong faith of their own. A personal faith is essential in order to stand strong in a decaying culture and also to fulfill the calling God has for their lives. Gabrielle shares how she was called into ministry at twelve years old but also had to walk out her life of faith.

They discuss some practical things that youth leaders, parents and students themselves can do to help future generations develop a strong personal relationship with God.
