Integral Being explores the lived intersection of martial embodiment, contemplative traditions, and human transformation. These are not abstract conversations—they are grounded in practice, perception, and the direct cultivation of the human system. Through dialogue with masters, scholars, and practitioners, this podcast examines how real practice reshapes the body, breath, attention, and awareness into a unified field of experience.2026 スピリチュアリティ 代替医療・補完医療 衛生・健康的な生活

    2026/10/24

What changes when an ordinary walk becomes a practice of breath, movement, and awareness?

Drs. Jacques MoraMarco and Yun Kim join Mark V. Wiley to explore mindful walking as a daily practice for vitality, balance, and self-directed wellness. Drawing on their book, Walking Your Way to Vitality, they discuss how East Asian medicine, tai chi, breathwork, and meditation come together through the simple act of walking.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • How walking becomes a mindfulness practice
    • Connecting breath, movement, and intention
    • Tai chi animal walks and dynamic balance
    • Proprioception—sensing the body's position and movement
    • What slowing down reveals about attention and coordination
    • Walking meditation and the influence of Thich Nhat Hanh
    • Starting where you are and building consistency
    • Bringing the qualities of practice into everyday life

The conversation returns to a central question: how does what we practice become part of how we live?

    About the guests:
Dr. Jacques MoraMarco and Dr. Yun Kim are practitioners of traditional East Asian medicine and lineage holders of Sun Tai Chi. They coauthored Walking Your Way to Vitality: Integrating Walking, Breathwork, and Mindfulness Into Your Daily Exercise.

  • When Realization Becomes Lived with Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri
    2026/10/09

What changes when spiritual understanding begins to shape how we live?

In this Integral Being conversation, Shaykh Fadhlalla Haeri joins Mark V. Wiley to explore realization through presence, honesty, conduct, and the willingness to relinquish the identities we defend.

Through humorous and revealing stories of his teacher, Swami Chinmayananda, he examines the difference between an uplifting experience and realization, the danger of becoming a collector of spiritual teachings, and the ways spiritual ego can disguise itself as wisdom or humility.

The conversation also explores uncertainty, responsibility, nonattachment, and earthly life as preparation for death and return to the source.

    Topics include:

    • Why realization involves loss rather than acquisition
    • The illusion of a separate self
    • How presence expresses itself through conduct
    • Spiritual experiences and the pursuit of special states
    • Living responsibly within uncertainty
    • Participating fully without clinging to experience
    • Spiritual ego and the responsibilities of teaching
    • Silence, discernment, and responding to the moment

  • Truth Before Love: The Sufi Path of Transformation | Shaykh Burhanuddin Herrmann
    2026/09/28

What happens when the spiritual path stops being about comfort and begins demanding truth?

In this Integral Being conversation, Sufi teacher Shaykh Burhanuddin Herrmann explores the movement from identification with the mind toward the heart—and why genuine spiritual transformation requires truth, responsibility, self-observation, and lived practice.

"Truth is the earth of love. Truth is the foundation."

Drawing from decades within the Naqshbandi Sufi tradition and his close relationship with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani, Shaykh Burhanuddin examines why the mind, despite its extraordinary usefulness, should not occupy "first place."

We explore why the spiritual path may reveal rather than remove suffering; how the ego resists truth; why personal responsibility begins to dissolve patterns of blame; and how the body can reveal contradictions that the mind rationalizes.

    "The body cannot be cheated."

The conversation also moves deeply into practice: the heart and its quality of non-forcing, silence and the "soundless sound," zikr and remembrance, gratitude, spiritual transmission, and the role of helpers, mirrors, and triggers in revealing the patterns we might otherwise avoid seeing.

Shaykh Burhanuddin also offers an important observation for contemporary spiritual seekers: encountering many teachings is not necessarily the same as transformation. For those beginning a path, he recommends going deeply into one practice and allowing it to work upon the person over time.

We conclude with a remarkably simple practice: placing the hands over the chest, bringing attention toward the heart, and "smiling at the heart" with gratitude.

    In this conversation:

    • Why truth comes before love
    • Moving from mind to heart
    • Why the spiritual path may bring more pain, not less
    • The ego's resistance to truth
    • Responsibility and the movement beyond blame
    • Why "the body cannot be cheated"
    • The heart as a different way of meeting life
    • Silence and the "soundless sound"
    • Zikr, remembrance, and transformation
    • Helpers, mirrors, and triggers
    • Spiritual teachers and transmission
    • Depth of practice versus collecting teachings
    • Gratitude as a daily practice
    • The one-minute "smiling at the heart" practice

Shaykh Burhanuddin Herrmann is a Sufi teacher, spiritual guide, author, and musician who spent decades studying closely with Mawlana Shaykh Nazim al-Haqqani within the Naqshbandi Sufi tradition. His teaching emphasizes self-observation, responsibility, gratitude, remembrance, the awakening of the heart, and the integration of spiritual practice into everyday life.

Integral Being explores the lived dimensions of embodiment, consciousness, contemplative practice, internal cultivation, and the world's wisdom traditions.

What is cultivated through direct experience becomes embodied as a way of being.
