This week's edition of Inside the Nest features new Saint Joseph's field hockey head coach Sam Brown, who is set to begin his first season on Hawk Hill later this week. Coach Brown talks about his transition to Saint Joseph's and into a head coaching role, his field hockey roots back home in New Zealand, and the status of the international game in the United States before going discussing his pathway into coaching and how his playing career has impacted his coaching philosophies. He also talks about his experience in the club and national team spheres before moving to the collegiate level in the United States and coaching under USA Field Hockey and Philadelphia Sports Hall of Famer Christy Morgan and former Hawk head coach Lynn Farquhar.
Then, it's on to Hawk Hill; what brought him here, his first impressions, the advantage of an accomplished staff of assistant coaches, building trust within the team, and the balance between drawing on the recent success of the program while keeping the focus on the present before answering some not-so-rapid fire questions to close out the show.
