Indiana Football doesn't need Josh Hoover to throw for 300 yards to beat Minnesota. The Hoosiers have built a defense capable of carrying the team through difficult games, and Curt Cignetti's squad has another opportunity to prove it.

After holding Michigan to just six points in a 13-6 overtime victory, Indiana's defense has become one of the most dependable parts of the team. While Hoover and the passing game are looking to regain their rhythm, the Hoosiers have demonstrated that they can win even when the offense isn't at its best.

In today's Locked On Hoosiers HIT, Jacob Goins explains why Indiana's defense gives the Hoosiers a major advantage against PJ Fleck and Minnesota. He also discusses the importance of Billy Gowers and the punting game, controlling field position, protecting the football and giving Hoover manageable opportunities to move the offense.

Can Indiana win comfortably without a huge passing performance? And will the Hoosiers enter their bye week with another important Big Ten victory?
