  • Is now the right time to invest?
    2026/04/19

In this episode of Freedonomix, Cameron speaks with IWP Senior Financial Adviser Lynn Zhao to unpack one of the most common questions investors ask: Is now the right time to invest?

Rather than focusing on market predictions, this conversation explores what really matters — your goals, your time frame, your ability to tolerate volatility, and the importance of having a disciplined long-term plan. Cam and Lynn discuss why trying to pick the perfect time to invest can be unhelpful, how fear and hesitation can keep people stuck in cash, and why evidence-based investing is often less about timing the market and more about spending meaningful time in it.

It's a thoughtful discussion about behaviour, perspective, and making investment decisions with clarity and confidence.

    2026/04/15

In this episode of Freedomonix, Cameron speaks with Chris Haggart - Partner and Financial Adviser about the psychology of wealth and the search for meaning beyond a paycheck. They also discuss the importance of understanding the "why behind the why" in financial advice, and how a life-first approach can help people make better decisions with the resources they already have. It is a reflective conversation about money, identity, contentment and what really matters over the long term.

In this episode, Cameron and Shane talk through the ways to reduce this tax to ensure that your children receive more of your estate rather than the ATO.

  • IWP - Market Update - April 2026
    2026/04/06

Link to IWP's April 2026 Update (PDF) Monthly Market and Economic Chart Pack

Markets have experienced a volatile and challenging period over the past month, with both equity and bond markets declining as geopolitical developments—particularly escalating conflict involving Iran—drive renewed uncertainty, rising oil prices, and inflation concerns. In this month's discussion, Shane and Chris unpack the key issues influencing markets and portfolio positioning:

    • Equity markets declined by approximately 7% in March, marking one of the weakest months since 2022, as ongoing conflict and uncertainty weighed heavily on investor sentiment

    • Escalating tensions involving Iran and the United States have increased geopolitical risk, with unpredictable leadership dynamics contributing to heightened market volatility

    • Oil prices have risen above $100 per barrel amid supply disruptions and concerns around key shipping routes, reinforcing global inflationary pressures

    • Rising fuel and energy costs are impacting both households and businesses, with discretionary spending expected to weaken as essential expenses increase

    • Inflation remains a key concern globally, particularly in Australia where price pressures were already elevated, increasing the likelihood of delayed or additional interest rate hikes

    • Historically, markets react sharply in the early stages of conflict before entering a stabilisation phase, with current conditions suggesting we may be transitioning beyond the initial shock period

    • Consumer sentiment has softened, with individuals and businesses delaying decision-making amid ongoing uncertainty

    • While short-term volatility has been significant, broader market performance over the past 12 months remains relatively resilient, highlighting the importance of maintaining perspective

    • Portfolio strategy remains unchanged, with a continued focus on diversification across sectors, asset classes, and geographies to manage risk in unpredictable environments

    • Attempting to time markets or make short-term tactical shifts remains highly challenging, particularly given rapidly changing geopolitical developments and market reactions

Overall, the message remains consistent: remain disciplined, avoid reacting to short-term volatility, and stay focused on long-term investment fundamentals and the benefits of a well-diversified portfolio.
