  • Ep. 326: Splinters & Stitches: Supergroups & Offshoots pt.5
    2026/03/20

This week, we are talking about bands that have rock stars in them: Supergroups and Offshoots. We once again discuss how a band consisting of well-known artists from other bands does not always equal great success. Dive in with us as we discuss and listen to some of the more obscure supergroups and offshoots that didn’t break with huge mainstream success or stay around very long.

What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection: an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week, we talk exclusively about Supergroups featuring famous solo artists and band members, along with Offshoots, which are bands that contain the bulk of a previous incarnation of a famous band. We hope that we turn you on to something new.

    Songs this week include:

    1. Alcatrazz – “Painted Lover” from Disturbing The Peace (1985)
    2. Subrosa – “World’s Greatest Lover” from Never Bet The Devil Your Head (1997)
    3. Black Swan – “The Fire And The Flame” from Paralyzed (2026)
    4. THE LAST ROCKSTARS – “THE LAST ROCKSTARS (Paris Mix)” from THE LAST ROCKSTARS (2022)
    5. Circus Diablo - “Mad Parade” from Circus Diablo (2007)
    6. DREAMCAR – “We Rats” from Dream EP (2024)
    7. Swedish Metal Aid – “Give A Helpin’ Hand” from Give A Helpin’ Hand - single (1985)

  • Ep. 325: Monstrous Montages – AOR IV
    2026/03/13

This week, we’ve got the touch. We’ve got the power. There’s no easy way out, but we won’t stop believin’! • Ep. 324: Old Soles – A Shoegaze Revival 2
    2026/03/06

This week, we promote awareness of “Shoe The World Day – March 15” by visiting a long-forgotten genre that emerged in the late 80s – early 90s. A genre that exploited obscured vocals, guitar distortion, effects, feedback, and overwhelming volume: SHOEGAZE. In part 1, we focused mostly on bands from the UK, but in part 2, we are exploring bands from other parts of the world. These bands use the artistry of guitar innovation to paint some wonderfully layered sonic canvases! If you have a preconceived notion that you don’t like this stuff, we ask that you give this episode a shot, as you might be surprised how much it rocks…

What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection: an artist, album, or grouping of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. If you were into this music when it came out back in the early 90s, chances are that you haven’t revisited it in a while. Come along on this ride with us and spend the next 90 minutes staring at your feet! We hope we turn you on to something new!

    Songs this week include:

    1. Big Jesus – “Felt In Reverse” from Oneiric (2016)
    2. Band Of Susans – “Pearls Of Wisdom” from Veil (1993)
    3. Blackwater Holylight – “Bodies” from Not Here Not Gone (2026)
    4. Kent – “Lifesavers” from Isola (1998)
    5. Softcult – “16/25” from When A Flower Doesn’t Grow (2026)
    6. Swirlies – “San Cristobal De Las Casas” from They Spent Their Wild Youthful Days In The Glittering World Of The Salons (1996)
    7. HUM – “Starts” from You’d Prefer An Astronaut (1995)

  • Ep. 322: Excavation: New Wave Of British Heavy Metal Part V
    2026/02/20

This week, the lads hop across the pond to continue excavating denim and leather. It’s all about the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal! The NWOBM movement was filled with passionate bands that were poised to take over the world. Unfortunately, most of them didn’t make it to the level of Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, or Saxon. Hopefully, we can help spread the word and sounds for those who didn’t.

What’s this InObscuria thing? We’re a podcast that exhumes obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal and puts them in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. This week we discuss the LOST. For such a small island, they sure had a lot of amazing bands that set the standards for what is known as heavy metal. From the music, to the fashion, to the attitude… Over 45-years ago, these bands started an underground movement that would change hard rock and metal forever.

    Songs this week include:

    2. DEMON – “Night Of The Demon” from Night Of The Demon (1981)

    4. Bronz – “Heat Of The Night” from Taken By Storm (1983)
    5. Witchfynde – “Give ‘Em Hell” from Give ‘Em Hell(1980)

    7. Aragorn – “Black Ice” from The Neat Singles Collection Vol. 1 (1981)
