The woman who ran it, Mrs. Harlow, had been there since the 1970s. She kept a radio tuned to static, drank black coffee from a thermos, and every night at exactly 2:17 AM, she would walk to the edge of the parking lot and stare into the woods. I asked her why once. She didn't answer. But the next night, she handed me a flashlight and told me to come with her. What she showed me was not a cave, but something that lived inside the shape of a cave. Something that had been waiting for her since she was a girl. And I think it's still waiting.

Garrett spent thirty-five years going back down, not to find Danny, but to listen. He says the well doesn't echo anymore. It talks back. Luna follows him to the site, and what she hears from the dark stays with her like a second set of fingerprints.
