In 1667, the Dutch gave up New Amsterdam, and it became New York City. But what if they never had?
First, the real story: Henry Hudson and the Half Moon, the beaver fur trade, the famous sixty-guilder purchase of Manhattan, Peter Stuyvesant, the wall that became Wall Street, and the Treaty of Breda that traded New York for nutmeg and sugar.
Then we rewrite history: a Dutch colony wedged between New England and Virginia, a divided North America, and a world where English might never have become the global language.
