Time to pay — and you've got this. Today you'll be able to ask for the check, ask how much it is, understand the price, and count from one to ten in Spanish.
Mateo's still tired, so today he had two coffees — and when the check comes, he gets the number wrong. Lucía fixes it with a smile, he says sorry, and nobody minds. You'll learn the trick that would have saved him, then take the whole scene apart and do it yourself. Numbers come in easy little groups of three. Sin prisa.
☕ Today's phrases
- La cuenta, por favor — The check, please
- ¿Cuánto es? — How much is it?
- Son seis dólares — It's six dollars
- Aquí tienes — Here you go
- Perdón — Sorry / Excuse me
- Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez — One to ten
Just to recognize: the numbers once to veinte (11–20) — sixteen to nineteen are just "ten and six," "ten and seven"… — and ¿Con tarjeta? (by card?).
Bringing back from Episodes 1–3: ¿cómo estás?, más o menos, estoy cansado/cansada, sí, por favor, claro, hasta luego. You can now do a whole café visit, door to door.
🎯 Your tarea this week
Count things in Spanish — stairs, plates, steps — anything up to ten. And once this week, read a price tag out loud in Spanish.
Why it works: numbers stick when they're attached to real things. Count ten stairs a day in Spanish and they'll come out on their own.
Nos vemos en el café. ¡Hasta la próxima!
