Timmy Gibson went to breakfast with Ted Haggard multiple times. He was a fellow pastor in the evangelical world, close enough to watch the performance and sense something underneath. When the Caleb Flynn case broke, he recognized the architecture immediately. Flynn led worship in Tipp City, Ohio, while carrying on a relationship with a fellow worship team member and sending her over a hundred thousand texts. He was convicted on all nine counts in Ashley Flynn's murder and sentenced to life without parole. On Homicide Happy Hour, Gibson said what happened on Flynn's worship team happened at every church he ever served. He pastored for thirty years before leaving the faith entirely. His read on Flynn's tears at the altar is specific. He says the affair didn't drive Flynn from God. It drove him closer. The sin created a false humility that felt like dependence on the divine. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott confirmed Gibson's instinct with a clinical framework that reframed thirty years of his own life in ministry.
