At Forest Oaks, repairs are temporary, complaints are ignored, and the tenants have learned not to expect much from management. For Dale, the complex’s new maintenance man, the job is only something to endure until better work comes along. Then he receives a request from apartment 11-A. BeBe Evans needs her thermostat fixed—and insists the temperature must remain precisely seventy degrees so she can continue observing her universe. The other residents call her “Crazy God Lady.” BeBe claims the title is more accurate than they realize. Dale dismisses her warnings, mocks her promises, and leaves the repair unfinished. But when impossible things begin appearing around the complex, he is forced to wonder whether the woman in white is truly delusional—or whether he has offended something capable of governing life, death, and what comes afterward.
