Sydney Sweeney has sparked controversy for a provocative ad campaign that appears to show her naked. It’s for the sports betting company Novig. In the advert, Sweeney is seen covering parts of her body with footballs, basketballs, golf clubs and other sports equipment and is heard repeating the word “sports.” But several women athletes — including Sophie Capewell, Amy Hunt, and Gracie Kramer — have criticised the campaign, saying it sexualises female athletes and views sport through the male gaze. Sweeney, who is best known for movies like ‘Anyone But You’ and ‘The Housemaid,’ hasn’t responded directly.

BBC Sport journalist Sarah Dawkins tells us more. We also hear from female athletes and content creators, including German rugby international Sofie Fella, Aofie Hernon, and Izza Khan.
