Today we are exchanging thoughts with the International Veterinary Students´ Association (IVSA) about the meaning and implementation of animal welfare in veterinary education around the globe.
To gain international insights, we were able to speak with five regional representatives in the following roles: Tamy Negrón (President, Peru), Prothoma Kalidaha (Chair of Standing Committee on Animal Welfare, India), Asampana Kofi Engbme Maxwell (External Relations Manager, Ghana), Felix Metzger (IVSA Trust, Germany), and Monia El Madidi (Research and Data Analyst, Morocco) (at the time of interview recording in the first half of 2026).
In this first of several episodes, we introduce ourselves and learn more about the IVSA with its opportunities and ways to get involved. To lay the foundation for deeper conversations, we also discuss what animal welfare means to each of us.
Listen in and get to know the IVSA – maybe you want to get active yourself, join a present chamber, or start one at your university to give yourself and your fellow students a voice for curriculum optimization, compliance with animal welfare, and the future of the veterinary profession.
Meet the IVSA online: https://www.ivsa.org/
We are always happy about feedback!
