Most of us want to help when someone is hurting, but we freeze when the pain gets serious. Today we speak directly to a fear many Christian women carry quietly: suicidal thoughts can exist alongside real faith, real prayer, and real love for God. I share why a Christian identity does not make anyone immune to depression, trauma, grief, anxiety, or hopelessness, and why telling the truth about where you are can be the first step toward wholeness.

We walk through what to notice when something changes in a friend, spouse, family member, or church sister: withdrawal, missed calls, sudden quietness, big mood shifts, and phrases like “I can’t do this anymore” or “Everyone would be better off without me.” Then we get practical about suicide warning signs and what love looks like in real time, including one bold question that can open a life-saving conversation: “Are you thinking about suicide?” We also address a common myth with research-backed clarity: asking directly does not plant the idea or make things worse.

If someone says yes, you will hear simple next steps that protect dignity and safety: stay calm, listen, do not shame, do not rush to lecture, and help them connect to support. We cover the five action steps recommended by the National Institute of Mental Health and what to do in urgent situations, including calling 911 in the United States or calling or texting 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7. If you are the “strong one” who is exhausted behind the scenes, this is your reminder that getting help is not failure. Subscribe, share this with someone you love, and leave a review so more women find support when it matters most.
