- At 6:14 AM on February 9, 2004, 15-year-old paper carrier Gina Farrell found a laminated volunteer badge propped upright against a fire hydrant on a frozen sidewalk with no footprints around it.
- Marie Williams, 52, had disappeared nine days earlier after missing her Tuesday shift at the Harlow Falls Food Pantry, where she had volunteered every Tuesday for six years.
- The police recorded Marie missing on February 5 after coordinator Lou Pacheco waited four days to report her absence, explaining he assumed she was ill.
- Utility logs show a white municipal cargo van with a municipal seal was dispatched to Preller Avenue on February 1, 2004 - the same morning window Marie would have walked to the pantry.
- The same van and worker, Roy Jones, were documented on Preller Avenue exactly ten years earlier (February 1, 1994) and on other nearby blocks in Februaries tied to other disappearances.
