The night clerk told her that chair had been there since before the depot was built, and that sometimes, when the station was empty, it rocked on its own. She didn't believe it until she saw the man sit in it and the room went cold. By dawn he was gone, but the chair wasn't empty anymore — something was still sitting in it, watching the door. A story about what waits in the places we pass through, and how some seats never let you go.
