Is Your Childhood Trauma Showing Up in Your Adult Life? Don’t Let It Control You

What if some of the things you struggle with today didn’t actually begin in adulthood?

The way you respond to conflict. The relationships you choose. Your fear of rejection. Your need to please everyone. Your difficulty trusting people. The way you react when you feel abandoned, criticised or misunderstood.

Sometimes, what we think is simply “who we are” can actually be a response to something we experienced much earlier in life.

In this episode of In Her Space, we’re having an honest conversation about childhood experiences and the ways they can quietly follow us into adulthood — particularly into our relationships, self-esteem, boundaries and the way we see ourselves.

Because growing older doesn’t automatically mean we’ve healed.

You can be successful, independent, accomplished and confident on the outside, while still carrying parts of the little girl or boy you once were.

But here’s the important part: your childhood may explain you, but it does not have to define you.

At some point, we have to become conscious of the patterns we inherited, the behaviours we developed to survive, and the stories we continue telling ourselves — and decide whether they still belong in the life we are building today.

    In this episode, we explore:

    • How childhood experiences can influence adult relationships
    • Why some people struggle with abandonment, rejection or trust
    • The connection between people-pleasing and childhood conditioning
    • Why we sometimes recreate familiar patterns, even when they hurt us
    • How childhood experiences can affect our boundaries and self-worth
    • The difference between understanding where a behaviour comes from and using it as an excuse
    • Why healing requires self-awareness, accountability and compassion
    • How to stop allowing your past to dictate your future
    • And why becoming the adult you needed when you were younger can be one of the most powerful forms of healing

You cannot change what happened to you.

But you can change what happens next.

Your past deserves compassion. Your present deserves awareness. And your future deserves the freedom to be something completely different.

Don’t allow what happened to you as a child to become the blueprint for the rest of your life.

This is In Her Space — a space for honest conversations, growth, womanhood, identity, relationships and becoming the person you were always meant to be.
