Mark Gronowski had arguably his best day as a Hawkeye and DJ Vonnahme had another breakout performance. Diego Pavia was contained in the first half but stormed back to give the Commodores a chance in the 4th quarter, but the Hawkeye offense did just enough to close the door.     Both the Hawkeye men and women's basketball teams came up short in tough, hard fought matches on the road in the Cy-Hawk match. Jan Jensen's squad was down 17 late in the third quarter but was able to claw back into the game in the fourth and make it a 3 point game with a few minutes left. A Taylor McCabe 3 to tie it was blocked without a foul call. The men started off hot and led for most of the first half, but a devastating 16-0 Cyclone run to start the second half all but doomed the Hawks from a massive road upset. Iowa did make it tough, coming within 2 points in the final minute, but a missed chance at a turnover, a defensive rebound and then a foul in the final seconds sealed the win for Iowa State.
